There is also the
university’s website
which contains very useful information on the course itself, as well as
information on the increasingly important Biomedical Admissions Test. There is a
sample paper on the website, and your school should have previous
specimen papers for you to look at too.
While college selection
can be based on a number of criteria which do not necessarily require a visit
to Cambridge, the most important factor in selection of a college to many
students is its looks and feel as one walks in and has a look around the
college. This is why a visit to Cambridge, on your own, with your family
or on a college/university run open day (the most appropriate way to see
Cambridge) are highly recommended and very worthwhile.
Downing College has
always had a reputation for being one of the leading colleges in
Cambridge for Medicine, not to mention its close proximity to all the Departments
you will ever use as a pre-clinical medical student! Downing have a
number of medical reps who would be very happy to answer any questions
you have concerning any aspect of the application process or Cambridge –
just email our Whitby Secretary,
who can answer or pass on your query.
Downing College also has
many “Access” initiatives. If you would like information on
this please feel email our college Access Officer or our Academic Affairs
Officer. Cambridge University Student Union also has an Access Officer for queries
unrelated to Downing.
If you have any further
questions which cannot be answered by any of the people/resources above,
please feel free to get in contact with the Whitby Medical Society
President, Ali Hardy.
Everybody in the Society
wishes you the best of luck with your application and your studies.
